5 Favorite Self-Care Tips

Being a mom is tough – but taking care of yourself doesn't have to be.

As a therapist who works with postpartum mental health, I cannot stress the importance of self-care enough.

So, after taking care of everyone else in your life, it's time to prioritize yourself. Here are some of my favorite self-care tips to incorporate into your daily routine. And yes, I said DAILY.

  1. 🌬️ Deep breathing: Close your eyes and focus on your breath for a minute or two. Inhale deeply and exhale slowly to calm your mind and body.

  2. 🛁 Bubble bath: Treat yourself to a luxurious bubble bath to unwind after a long day. Add some essential oils and candles for the ultimate relaxation experience.

  3. 📓 Journal: Write down your thoughts and feelings in a journal. It's a great way to process them and do some much-needed reflection. ​Check out this journal I created​, specifically for new moms!

  4. 💃 Do something fun: Self-care doesn’t always have to be so serious. Make time for a fun activity that you enjoy. Whether painting, dancing, watching your favorite show, or reading a book, doing something fun can boost your mood and decrease stress.

  5. 👯‍♀️ See your friends: The only thing better than dancing alone is dancing with friends...but a quick coffee date also works! Connection is key and spending time with those who uplift and support you can be a game changer for your mental health.

Just a little moment to yourself can go a long way for your mental health. Keep prioritizing YOU so you can show up as your best for them.
